This year was our first year putting up a tree! Boyd and I have been in Hawaii every other Christmas, and never got to put up a tree or decorations because we were gone the whole month of December. This year since we are spending Christmas at home, we got a tree and a few decorations! We were both very excited to get a tree, especially Boyd since he hasn't had a Christmas tree in a long time!!
We first debated whether or not to get a real tree or a fake tree. Although a fake one would be more expensive, it would last for years. PLUS, we have a small car and we didn't think we could get a real tree in it. Well, after looking at the fake ones and the real ones, we decided we had to have a real one (it just doesn't get any better than that fresh tree smell). So we first attempted to put the tree on the roof--not so good. Then I had the idea of putting it in the trunk and putting the back seats down (it was wrapped up so it was tall but skinny). This idea worked except one problem---car seat! So Eli and I stayed at the store while Boyd dropped the tree off at home (thank goodness we live close!), then he came and picked us up. Well the fun didn't stop there. When we got home, I was trying to put Eli to bed while Boyd tried to set the tree up on a stand. Not as easy at it looks! It took us a while to get the tree to not only stand up straight, but to stand up on its own. A few hours, lots of pine needles, and tree sap later, we got it! Then we stayed up until 2am decorating it! :) It was a lot of fun and very memorable!
Here is my little Elf putting up his first Christmas ornament--thanks Grammy! (unfortunatley, you can't see it as my hand is blocking it). He is also in his little Christmas outfit (which he's already outgrown) from Grandma.
Looking suprised (as always) for the camera. My little Christmas Elf!

How fun! I love having a tree! We started out with just a tree (we opted for a pre-lit from Costco though and we LOVE it! It really looks real) and a few ornaments. Every year we buy a few more, and someday it will look like a tree from the festival of trees! :) Well, maybe. Miss ya!
